Synopsis:

Every life is multifaceted, and a memoir can only capture a few aspects. The life of Lama Doboom Tulku, who was uprooted from his monastery and homeland, yet led a full life of travel, influence, and steadfast belief, is a tale too vast for a single book. Writing his memoirs was both a captivating and challenging journey for the monk, providing education and enlightenment.

Recognized as a ‘Tulku’ before the age of two, Lama Doboom Tulku’s early years at Doboom Ritro Monastery were vastly different from his later life. In 1959, forced to leave for India without knowing his destination, he lived as a refugee in a shed, receiving rations for his daily needs. His memoirs document this transition and his subsequent journey leading up to his role at Tibet House. Lama Doboom Tulku’s writings aim to share his life story, portraying himself as an ‘ordinary man’ who had the privilege of extraordinary teachings.
