November 1 2026 @ 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Organised by Tibet House, The Cultural Centre of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, New Delhi
We are pleased to invite you to join us in commemorating (Lhabab Düchen, the sacred day marking Shakyamuni Buddha’s descent from the Tushita Heaven) on 1st November, 2026 at Tibet House, New Delhi.
Lhabab Düchen, which falls on (22nd day of the 9th Tibetan lunar month) means “The Great Occasion of the Descent,” is a major holy day in Tibetan Buddhism commemorating Shakyamuni Buddha’s return to Earth after teaching Dharma to his mother and the gods in the Heaven of the Thirty-Three (Sanskrit: Trāyastriṃśa, Pāli: Tāvatiṁsa). It is one of the four great Buddhist holy days, when the karmic effects of positive and negative actions are traditionally believed to be multiplied ten million times, making it an especially auspicious day for prayers, meditation, and acts of kindness.
The programme will include a “Ceremony of Undertaking the Aspirational Bodhisattva Vows” and Reflections by Ven. Geshe Dorji Damdul, Director, Tibet House New Delhi.
