Tibet House conducted a two-month Elementary Tibetan Language Course in the year 2004 and another in 2005. This course was taken further to an Intermediate Level in the year 2006. At the request of many Enthusiasts, Tibet House officially launched the Tibetan language course on September 23, 2011. The inaugural function was presided over by Mr. Tempa Tsering, the Former Representative of His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama in New Delhi and Ven. Geshe Dorji Damdul, the Director of Tibet House. To meet the needs of the aspirants, there are four levels of learning.

1. Beginners
2. Intermediate
3. Advance
4. Proficiency

The duration of the course at each level is four months.

Had it not been for Ama Jetsun Pema la, this dream of introducing a Tibetan language course at Tibet House would not have happened as spontaneously. Tibet House expresses deep gratitude to Amala for her kindness. Our sincere appreciation to the TCV Head Office for their financial support for this project till 2020.

So far Tibet House has successfully completed 28 batches of Tibetan Language Course. The 29^th Batch of Tibetan Language Course will commence on 2nd June 2025.
